Ex-Essendon player Andrew Lovett has been accused of an attack on a woman, according to the Herald Sun.

Lovett has been charged with recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault after an incident in Rye on August 4th.

The 35-year-old was listed to face the Frankston Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday but managed to get the matter adjourned until January.

Police have collected evidence including photos of the woman’s injuries.

Lovett played 88 games for Essendon from 2005-09.

He was traded to St Kilda in the 2009 trade period, but was stood down after rape charges — that were later dropped — were laid against him in February 2010.

Lovett never played a game for the Saints.

He most recently was playing for North Heidelberg in the Northern Football League.
