Footy Fans Won’t Be Able To Get A Four’N Twenty Pie At The Game In China

The Four’n Twenty pie at the footy is a tradition almost as old as the game itself.

Footy fans have been scarfing them down in the stands since time immemorial, while the vendors selling ”Hot pies, cold drinks!” are just as traditional.

In fact, the Four’n Twenty meat pie is so synonymous with footy that the wikipedia entry actually features one being eaten at a match.

But with the game moving to Jiangwan Sports Stadium in Shanghai for round 8, the classic pie won’t be making t move with it, as reported by Stevo on Gameday this morning.

Apparently in China the number four is considered unlucky, as it’s linked to death.

It’s a serious issue in China — no car number plates have a four in them, and there’s no level four in any buildings.

Jack Martin and Paddy Ryder both wear four, and it remains to be seen how the teams sort that out.
