Adelaide captain Taylor Walker underwent surgery on Monday morning to repair the plantar fascia in his left foot.

Walker, who copped a season-ending two-week suspension last week, has been troubled by the issue at different stages throughout this season.

The club described the operation as a “minor procedure”.

“Importantly, he will be able to complete a thorough rehabilitation program and be ready to go for the start of pre-season training,” Adelaide football head Brett Burton said.

Walker had an underwhelming 2018 season by his own lofty standards which saw him kick just 26 goals from 14 games at an average of 1.85 goals per game – his lowest average since 2011.
