Former Melbourne forward Russell Robertson is still flying for the Doveton Eagles.

The 39-year-old slammed home a whopping bag of 15 on the weekend in his side's huge 133-point win over Caulfield on Saturday in the Southern Football Netball League.

Robertson - who helped take his side to Division 2 with a Division 3 premiership last season - was clinical in the win, kicking seven goals in the first term.

The Eagles led by 64 points at quarter time to set up the win, 24.24 (168) to 5.5 (35), that bolsters their spot on top of the ladder.

Robertson has now kicked 31 goals from his six games this season.

“I’ve kicked 13 a couple of times with St Josephs in the Geelong league and a few 11s and 12s over the years, but today was my best,” he told News Corp after the game.

“It felt really nice, actually, but the best part was that it was such a terrific team effort. I was just lucky enough to get on the end of a few from further afield.

“The body hasn’t been the greatest of late when kicking for goal, so it was just nice to kick straight.

“The back plays up a bit these days and I reckon it will take me about two weeks to get over this.”

The high flyer kicked 428 goals in his 228 games for Melbourne.
