Richmond and Melbourne are among the clubs set to break their respective records for highest average attendances in a home and away season.

They join the reigning premiers - the Western Bulldogs - and the up-and-coming Giants to register their highest numbers in club history with 10 games to play in 2017.

Here are the figures:

Highest Average Home & Away Crowd In Club History (2017)

Richmond - 50,086 (previous highest: 47,925, 2015)

Melbourne - 41,641 (36,358, 2010)

Western Bulldogs - 35,939 (35,506, 2009)

GWS - 19,662 (18,327, 2016)

Another interesting statistic shows that Essendon and Richmond are right in the mix to set records for the highest home crowd averages in VFL/AFL history.

Both currently sit in the top 7 with home crowds averaging 60,332 (Richmond) and 56,269 (Essendon).

Richmond are placed 3rd of all-time - with both 1st and 2nd places held by Collingwood in the years 2010 and 2011.

With some monster home games against Carlton (Round 14), GWS (Round 18), Hawthorn (Round 20) and St Kilda (Round 23) they're every chance to make up the extra 3,000 people and break a record.
