Brayshaw "In Good Spirits"

Mark Brayshaw has told Triple M’s Rush Hour that his son, Fremantle youngster Andrew Brayshaw, has got a “very swollen face” but is in “good spirits”.

Mark, the older brother of Triple M Footy’s JB, said that Andrew is on his way to Melbourne to spend time with the family and be looked after by his mother after having his jaw broken and three teeth displaced after being punched in the face by West Coast star Andrew Gaff in Sunday’s spiteful Western Derby.

Gaff received an eight-week suspension for the incident.

Andrew Brayshaw underwent surgery and won’t be able to eat solid food for a month.

“It has been a busy week, I flew back from Perth in the morning on Monday and got off the plane I had 118 texts and 26 phone messages - all of whom were wishing the young bloke well,” Mark Brayshaw said.

“He’s got a very swollen face, a couple of stitches in and outside the lip and a sore jaw that’s starting to throb a little bit.

“That aside, he’s fine, he’s in good spirits and he’s happy and at the end of the day in a couple of weeks’ time it will all be behind him.”
