Harley Balic has been granted further leave from Fremantle.

Here is what the club had to say in a club statement from the Dockers website:

Harley Balic - Fremantle Statement

Fremantle second-year player Harley Balic has been granted a further indefinite leave of absence from the club.

Following his return to playing for the Peel league team against West Perth on 8 July, Balic missed playing in the Thunder’s win over East Perth at Leederville Oval on Saturday after injuring his hamstring at training last week.

The 20-year-old was initially granted an indefinite leave of absence in mid-May to deal with a personal issue.

He subsequently returned to the club last month after the round 13 bye.

Balic’s latest indefinite leave of absence saw him head home to Melbourne on Monday.

When Balic first returned home to Melbourne earlier in the year, general manager of football operations Chris Bond said at the time that the club and the player agreed that it was in Balic’s best long-term interest to take a leave of absence to deal with a personal issue.

“It is in Harley Balic’s best interests to take a further leave of absence and we will continue to provide him with all the support and resources that he requires,” Bond said.

There will be no further comment from the club on this matter.
