Fremantle’s goal scoring pest Hayden Ballantyne will miss round one after injuring his hamstring in the Dockers’ win over Carlton at Domain Stadium yesterday.

Ballantyne tumbled to the deck after getting a kick off late in the third term last night and felt his hammy go.

He hobbled off the ground looking despondent with a trainer, going straight to the rooms for treatment.

Ballantyne will miss around a month of football, ruling him out of Freo’s round one clash with Geelong at Domain Stadium.

It was a positive night overall for Freo though, they walked away with an encouraging 2.12.14 (104) to 0.12.11 (83) win over the Blues.

Nat Fyfe was the biggest story for Freo, tuning up nicely for his comeback from a broken leg by racking up 38 touches (16 contested), seven marks, five clearances, six tackles, three inside 50s and 1.1.

Also warming Freo hearts was the form of gun recruit Cam McCarthy, who booted 6.1 from 11 touches and five marks.
