The AFL will return to Shanghai in 2018.
After playing the first ever AFL game in China this year, Gold Coast and Port Adelaide will clash once again in round nine next year.
The fixture has been locked in for a Saturday afternoon, on May 19.
AFL executive Travis Auld confirmed the ground, Jiangwan Stadium, would also be renamed after being backed by the state government.
It will now be known as the Adelaide Arena.
"This is more than just a sporting event," South Australian premier Jay Weatherill said on Tuesday.
"This provides us with...a foundation for mutual exchange, a friendship, and the friendships that are formed through football."
