Gaff Referred Straight To The Tribunal, Over $20k Fines Handed Out

West Coast’s Andrew Gaff has been referred directly to the tribunal for his punch on Andrew Brayshaw.

The referral was amongst 15 charges laid from the Saturday and Sunday games of round 20, with no other suspensions handed down but $21,500 in fines dished out.

Hayden Ballantyne and Liam Ryan both copped $1500 fines for instigating a melee in the same game, while Daniel Venables, Jeremy McGovern, Sean Darcy and Luke Ryan all copped $1000.

Michael Johnson has been fined $2000 for rough conduct on Gaff later in the game as well.

Christian Petracca and Dyson Heppell were fined $1000 for careless umpire contact, while Alex Sexton, Ben Cunnington, Cale Hooker and Aaron Francis all were given $2000 for various offences.

Jacob Hopper can accept $2500 for his third offence for careless umpire contact.

Damian Barrett says Gaff must get at least seven weeks suspension.
