Geelong has put North Melbourne to the sword in the VFL curtain-raiser ahead of the AFL game at GMHBA Stadium today, winning 21.11 (137) to 5.7 (37)

The Cats smashed the Roos all day, booting the first 19 goals before North got on the board late in the third quarter.

Geelong kicked seven goals in the first quarter, eight in the second, four in the third and just the two in the last as they took the foot off the pedal.

North added an element of respectability to the score line with the last four goals of the game, after the Cats at one stage had been 125 points up.

The Cats went 100 points ahead seconds into the third quarter when Cory Gregson kicked his fourth goal on the way to a five snag haul.

Geelong had 14 AFL-listed players on the park, Cam Guthrie, Zac Guthrie, Jackson Thurlow, Cory Gregson, George Horlin-Smith, Stewart Crameri, and Scott Selwood all with senior games under their belt this year, while Lachlan Henderson is a first-team player making his way back from injury.

The Cats take on the Roos at GMHBA Stadium at 1.45pm.
