Geelong are set for a new Brownless era, with Billy’s son Oscar set to be nominated as a father/son pick according to Cal Twomey at AFL.com.au.

The Cats can wait until October 31 to officially lodge the paperwork, but reportedly have already decided to nominate young Oscar.

Unlike Billy — a tall marking forward who kicked 441 goals in 198 games — Oscar is a hard working midfielder with a strong endurance base who spent most of the year playing on the wing for the Geelong Falcons.

He made headlines in June with a brilliant banana in the under 18s carnival:

Oscar had been training with the Cats once a week toward the end of the season.

He will continue a rich tradition of father/sons at the Cats that include premiership stars Gary and Nathan Ablett, Tom Hawkins and Matthew Scarlett as well as current players Jed Bews and Sam Simpson.

The Cats currently hold picks 12, 50, 59, 60, 70 and 87 heading into next month’s draft.
