Geelong star Tom Stewart has told Triple M’s Rush Hour that fellow defender Jack Henry could become one of the best backmen in the competition.

Henry, who was taken at pick No.16 in the 2017 rookie draft, was made to wait for his crack at the big time as he spent his first year with the Cats in the VFL.

But he has burst onto the AFL scene this year and hasn’t missed a game since making his debut in round two against Hawthorn to quickly become a key member of the Cats’ No.1-ranked defensive unit.

And Stewart, himself in All-Australian calculations this year, believes the sky is the limit for Henry.

“Jack’s been super, he’s only 20 years old as well. He’s a budding star,” Stewart said.

“I think once he plays a few more games, he could be as good as any defender in the AFL.”

Stewart was also full of praise for another Geelong defender Jake Kolodjashnij.

“He’s a gun. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – he’s one of the most underrated players in the comp,” Stewart said.

“I think he doesn’t get the attention he deserves from opposition and he wins every contest against every player he plays on – he’s a bloody star.”

Stewart gave Mark Blicavs a shout-out as well.

“He’s been super again,” Stewart said of the former steeplechaser. “He doesn’t get the recognition he should externally, but highly-rated (at the club) and does the job for us every week.”
