Geelong has informed Daniel Menzel and Jordan Murdoch that they will not be offered contracts in 2019.

Menzel managed 73 games for the Cats after being drafted with pick 17 in the 2009 draft.

He booted 136 goals in an injury destroyed nine years at the Cats, with a torn ACL in the 2011 qualifying final against Hawthorn compounded by a further knee reconstructions that saw him miss the entirety of the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons before he finally got back for the last two matches in 2015.

“Dan’s perseverance and resilience to undergo four major knee operations and come back the way he has is a credit to his work ethic and mental toughness,” Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.

Murdoch managed 108 games after being picked at 48 in the 2011 draft and booted 73 majors.
