Goal Umpire Off Under Blood Rule After Huge Falcon

One of the goal umpires in the Melbourne v Gold Coast game at TIO Traeger Park in Alice Springs has had to go off under the blood rule.

The goal ump, Luke Walker, copped a blood nose when Sean Lemmens slammed the opening goal of the game directly in to his face.

Walker is one of the more experienced goal umpires in the game, having officiated five grand finals.

He’s been replaced by emergency goal umpire Dylan Benwell.
