Gold Coast young gun Jack Martin has signed a new two-year contract extension that ties him to the Suns until the end of 2019 at least.

Martin wasn’t due to come out of contract until the end of this year, but the 22-year-old has ensured there’ll be no speculation over his future in the short-term.

The WA native was rapt to commit to the expansion club.

“I moved across to the other side of the country joining Gold Coast as a 17-year-old. I feel like I’ve grown up with the club itself and my teammates," Martin said.

“We haven’t achieved what we all had hoped for in that time, but the playing group is ready for the challenge, we really feel we will win back respect this year.

“There’s a great feel amongst the team having just moved into our new home. We all can’t wait for the season to start and I see an exciting future with this group."

Martin had a breakout season in 2016, missing just one game. He averaged 16 touches and kicked 14 goals.

The former mini-draft No.1 pick has played 44 games and kicked 35 goals since debuting in 2014.
