GWS will be sweating on the scan results on Stephen Coniglio, who hurt his ankle in last night's JLT Series win over North Melbourne.

Coniglio had his leg wrenched in a tackle from North Melbourne's Andrew Swallow during the third quarter.

He tried to play on and found the footy again seconds later but could not put much weight on his ankle, and had to he helped from the field.

He was later seen being consoled by teammate Dylan Shiel on the bench.

GWS coach Leon Cameron was optimistic Coniglio wouldn't miss too much footy.

"It didn't look the greatest but time will tell," he said after the match.

"Hopefully he can bounce out of his skin over the weekend and it's OK, but we're not going to know until Monday.

"Hopefully he doesn't miss too much footy."

Cameron said only scans will tell how severe it is.

"The guys are a bit unsure at the moment but to be fair they need to have a good look at it and scan him on Monday," he said.

Coniglio had a breakout season in 2016, leading the Giants for disposals, contested possessions and Brownlow votes.

It was a bad night in the injury front for GWS, with Steve Johnson (concussion) and Aidan Corr (hand) also injured, and Jeremy Cameron and Toby Greene potentially also under the eyes of the match review panel for separate incidents.
