Essendon midfielder Heath Hocking appeared on the Weekend Breakfast with Seb Costello this morning, and gave an insight into how the playing group dealt with the explosive tapes that leaked yesterday.

The Herald Sun managed to get a hold of audio that featured Essendon power brokers discussing the drugs saga, and their feelings of betrayal aimed at the AFL.

“I guess the good part of yesterday is that we had the day off,” Hocking said.

“We didn’t have to really worry about it, but for us it’s things that have already happened we can’t control.

“For us it’s about preparing for the game this week… talking about it’s not gonna help us.”

He said that Essendon does have structures in place in case any players feel they need help, however.

“There’s blokes that if they’re struggling with these sort of things, there’s things in the footy club that people can help with,” he said.

“For us it’s just about moving on. We’ve moved on, we’ve obviously served our time… something like this is just something in the background that we’ve gotta not listen to and focus on we have to do.”
