Heath Shaw has become (probably) the first AFL player to be given the title of “Lord”.

Lord Heath Shaw — as he is now legally known — purchased a plot of land in the Scottish Highlands area of Glencoe, which came with the title Lord.

He posted about it on Twitter today, where he's even changed his handle to reflect his new status:

He also signed a Master Title Deed that explained the legal ramifications of his new name.

“I ABSOLUTELY and entirely renounce, relinquish and abandon the use of my former name of Heath Shaw and assume, adopt and determine to take and use from the date hereof the name and title of Lord Heath Shaw in substitution for my former name of Heath Shaw,” the first clause of the deed reads.

“2. I SHALL at all times hereafter in all records, deeds, documents and other writings and in all transactions and on all occasions whatsoever use and subscribe the said name and title of Heath Lord Shaw as my name in substitution for my former name of Heath Shaw so relinquished as aforesaid to the intent that I may hereafter be called, known or distinguished by the name and title of Lord Heath Shaw only and not by my former name of Heath Shaw.

“3. I AUTHORISE and require all persons at all times to describe, designate and address my by my adopted name and title of Lord Heath Shaw.”

We look forward to commentators using the full title every time Lord Heath Shaw gets the ball.

Paul Roos said on the Sunday Rub that rebuilding is a “garbage concept”.
