Season 2017 saw six players reach the 300-game milestone, but only three men will be able to do so next year.

Carlton veteran Kade Simpson (286 games), Melbourne midfielder Jordan Lewis (283) and Adelaide goalsneak Eddie Betts (277) are in line for the coveted achievement in 2018.

It’s a far cry from this year when living legend Gary Ablett, Hawk-turned-Lion Luke Hodge, Sydney premiership star Jarrad McVeigh, former Bulldogs captain Robert Murphy and Essendon duo Brendon Goddard and James Kelly all cracked 300 games.

Only 83 players have achieved the milestone in the 121-year history of the VFL/AFL which works out to be 0.66 percent of all players who have played the game at the highest level.

Meanwhile, four-time premiership superstar Shaun Burgoyne (341) could become the 16th player in history to reach 350 games.
