Just days after scans confirmed premiership ruckman Jordan Roughead would miss two months of football, the Bulldogs might have been dealt another injury blow.

Back-up ruckman Tom Campbell reportedly limped from the field during a Western Bulldogs intra-club match on Saturday.

Campbell, one of the leading contenders to fill the void left by Roughead early in the season, hobbled into the rooms with a rolled ankle.

He was reportedly seen with ice strapped to his lower leg after the match.

Midfielder Jack Macrae played down the injury after the game.

"I think he's all right. I think it was just a little roll of the ankle and I think it was just precautionary," he told reporters.

"It's unfortunate to lose 'Rough' (Roughead), but last year boys stepped up whenever someone went down, and that's just another great strength of this group.

"I'm sure Tom Boyd and Tom Campbell and other boys will step up throughout the year."

With Roughead injured, Boyd and Campbell are the likely prospects to fill the void in the ruck.

The only other recognised ruckman on the Bulldogs' list is 19-year-old Tim English, whom the Dogs drafted with their first-round pick last year.
