North Melbourne coach Brad Scott has revealed skipper Jack Ziebell's ridiculous pain threshold, playing through three separate, significant injuries throughout the year.

Ziebell already has a reputation as a tough player at North Melbourne, but that only increased when Scott spoke about him at their best and fairest.

"I certainly don't want to embarrass Jack," he told the crowd.

"But there were times throughout the season when we wanted to rest him, mainly to protect him from himself, because of a broken collarbone, because of cracked ribs (and) a severely injured toe, which he's had fixed up just recently.

"Jack simply refused to lie down and pushed through a lot of the time at his own expense."

Ziebell injured his ribs against Collingwood in round 20, but returned to the game and spent the night up forward, kicking five of North's seven goals.

He played 19 games for the season and finished sixth in the best and fairest.
