Hawthorn has confirmed Jaeger O'Meara will return to footy this weekend.

The star recruit has been named in Box Hill's side to take on Essendon in the VFL this Saturday.

Named on a wing, the 23-year-old has been named on the wing and will don the number 80, marking his first game in over three months.

O'Meara has been plagued by persistent knee injuries once again this season, playing just four games this season.

He played the first three matches for Hawthorn, as well as in their round six loss to St Kilda, but bone stress has kept him on the sidelines since.

He missed all of 2015 and 2016 while playing for Gold Coast with tendinitis in both knees.

Another injured Hawk, Paul Puopolo, will join him in returning via the VFL.
