Jake Stringer has posted his first message since becoming a Bomber, thanking the Bulldogs for his time at the club.

The 23-year-old secured a trade to Essendon on Thursday, being swapped for picks 25 and 30 after he and the club settled on a trade.

In a photo of him holding the premiership cup from 2016, he thanked the fans in particular.

"It has been an unbelievable experience!" he wrote.

"Thank you to the entire Western Bulldogs football club, in particular the boys and most importantly the Footscray faithful fans- your support and enthusiasm for the club is contagious and it made my time at the club so enjoyable!

"I’m ready for a fresh start, to make my family/friends and most importantly my two beautiful girls proud."

He posted one more photo afterwards.
