Jake Stringer has reportedly failed to show at the Western Bulldogs' best and fairest on Wednesday night.

Stringer, who appears set to leave the Bulldogs in this year's trade period, was not in attendance at the Charles Sutton Medal, according to the Herald Sun.

The 23-year-old also failed to make the top 10 in the best and fairest, alongside Luke Dahlhaus and Tom Liberatore.

Essendon and Geelong are circling the 23-year-old in the upcoming trade period.

However, the Bulldogs have recently made it clear they are happy to keep Stringer if a deal cannot be done, according to list manager Jason McCartney.

“We have said we are happy to explore any options that Jake may have but if we cannot achieve a satisfactory agreement with another club he will remain with the Western Bulldogs for another year,” he told News Corp.

“We are very clear on that. Jake is contracted for next season and we would look forward to him playing with us in 2018 if a deal doesn’t work out over the next few weeks.”

Marcus Bontempelli won the Charles Sutton Medal for a second consecutive season on Wednesday night.

Jason Johannisen, despite criticism during the year, impressed to finish second, just one vote behind Bontempelli.
