Triple M Footy’s James Brayshaw and Jay Clark have suggested that Gold Coast and Collingwood might be interested in recruiting Essendon veteran Brendon Goddard at the end of the year.

The Bombers are still yet to re-sign the 33-year-old with only three games left in the home-and-away season, but he has been in pretty decent form and looks as though he may have at least another year of AFL footy left in him.

“What about the Gold Coast Suns?” JB posed on Triple M’s Rush Hour on Friday.

“‘BJ’ is a senior bloke that can do a bit of a Luke Hodge across half-back for them.”

Jay-Z added: “He’s very good friends with (Sydney backman) Jarrad McVeigh and the Suns are into Jarrad McVeigh, I think they’re business partners, so those two would definitely work well.”

But Jay-Z reckons the Magpies would be a better fit for Goddard.

“Collingwood need a half-back, don’t they? Because Matthew Scharenberg is down for a year with a knee (injury),” he said.

“Don’t you think that Brendon Goddard with Collingwood in the premiership window could just slot into a Magpies half-back spot?

“I think there’s some chance he could be up for grabs and I think the Pies needing a half-backer, skilful ‘kicksmith’, they should go for BJ.”
