JB: West Coast Were "Disgraceful"

James Brayshaw has not held back in his assessment of West Coast’s performance against Collingwood on Sunday, describing it as “disgraceful” and “appalling”.

With a spot in the top eight up for grabs, the Eagles seemed on track for victory when they led the struggling Magpies by 24 points early in the final quarter at Etihad Stadium.

But West Coast then conceded the last five goals of the game to lose to Collingwood, who were missing captain Scott Pendlebury, by eight points.

And JB was scathing of the Eagles’ defensive pressure after three-quarter time in particular as the Magpies went on to record just their seventh win of the year.

“We talked about the Brad Scott-Majak Daw exchange, if (West Coast coach) Adam Simpson doesn’t have three or four of them with a couple of his midfielders and defenders after the lack of defensive effort in that last three or four minutes, then he’s not fair dinkum,” JB told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Monday.

“Because some of that was dead set disgraceful if that’s what you’re serving up in a game that you were up by as good as 20 points.

“There was one time when (Collingwood backman) Tom Langdon exited defensive 50 and just walked past three West Coast midfielders and defenders who did not put one iota of defensive pressure on – it was just appalling.

“Adam Simpson should have a great time in review showing some of those blokes that.”

The Eagles host the Brisbane Lions at Domain Stadium on Sunday as they try and stay in touch with the top eight.
