Triple M Footy’s James Brayshaw has a newsflash for Collingwood president, and Triple M stablemate, Eddie McGuire who is trying to get Victorian footy fans to support the Magpies in Saturday’s grand final against West Coast at the MCG.
“Unless you support Collingwood, you f***ing hate them!,” JB declared on Triple M’s Rush Hour on Monday.
“That’s what happens in this town – it’s just night follows days!”
A punter told JB at Perth airport on the weekend: “Anyone but f***ing Collingwood.” And JB believes that sentiment perfectly sums up every non-Collingwood footy supporter’s feelings in Victoria.
“There could be a team out of the Middle East - if they’re playing against Collingwood, we hope they win! That’s how it works,” JB laughed.
“Collingwood should wear that as a badge of honour that this great massive club is either loved or universally hated – one or the other.”
Damian Barrett agreed, saying: “The notion that a Victorian football supporter needs to follow a Victorian team in the grand final, even if it’s not their team, it doesn’t work for me.”
