Triple M Footy’s Jason Dunstall believes Greater Western Sydney veteran Steve Johnson has a battle on his hands to keep his spot in the side for the finals.

The former Cat has produced modest numbers this year with an average of just 16 touches a game and only 15 goals to his credit from 15 games.

Jeremy Cameron, Shane Mumford, Devon Smith and Tim Taranto will all be available for selection in the coming weeks while Ryan Griffen (ankle) could be fit in time for the finals as well.

All of that pressure could be enough to see Johnson lose his spot in the side, according to Chief.

“There has to be,” Chief said during the Midweek Rub on Triple M’s Rush Hour when asked if there was concern surrounding Johnson’s ability to hang onto his spot.

“He has to be teetering a little bit you would think.

“I’m picking him on form. He’s got two weeks to play and show that he’s going to kick two or three goals for you and do all the right things that he needs to do from a team perspective as well.

“It’s not about self-preservation, he’s got to actually contribute to the team sense.”

The Giants will guarantee themselves a top two spot and a home final in the first week if they win their last two games against West Coast and Geelong.
