Ex-Hawthorn champion Jason Dunstall was named as a legend of the Queensland Sports Hall Of Fame last night.

The Chief is the 17th athlete promoted to legend status, and the first AFL player.

Dunstall was recruited to the Hawks from Coorparoo in Brisbane, and kicked 1254 goals between 1985 and 1998.

He won four flags in his decorated career, to go with three Coleman Medals and four All-Australian guernseys.

Chief kicked more than 100 goals six times in his career, and represented Victoria four times, Queensland twice and the Allies once.

He skippered Hawthorn between 1995-98, was the Hawks’ leading goal kicker 12 times, and is a member of the Australian Hall of Fame, the Hawthorn Team of the Century and is a legend in Hawthorn’s Hall of Fame.

Chief has since gone to a media career, working with Triple M and Fox Footy.

The other legends in the Queensland Sports Hall of Fame are Arthur Beetson (rugby league), Allan Border (cricket), Greg Chappell (cricket), John Eales (rugby union), Roy Emerson (tennis), Mick Doohan (motor sport), Cathy Freeman (athletics), Tim Horan (rugby union), Rod Laver (tennis), Wally Lewis (rugby league), George Moore (horse racing), Greg Norman (golf), Susie O'Neill (swimming), Kieren Perkins (swimming), David Theile (swimming) and Vicki Wilson (netball).
