Triple M Footy’s Jay Clark has explained how he thinks Gold Coast co-captain Steve May will end up at Collingwood in next month’s trade period.

Jay-Z believes the Magpies will give up their first-round pick in this year’s draft along with a fringe player like Adam Oxley or James Aish to the Suns in exchange for May.

“Someone who can step right in and help Gold Coast immediately - that mid-tier player who’s maybe not getting much of an opportunity,” Jay-Z told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Friday.

May still has a year to run on his contract but is strongly rumoured to want to be traded to Victoria for the 2019 season.

Jay-Z pointed out that because Collingwood’s first pick this year is on track to be in the mid-teens, they’ll have to give up another pick or a player or two to satisfy the Suns.

James Brayshaw said May is exactly what Collingwood needs in defence.

“You watch them on the weekend, they had (Tyson) Goldsack, (Tom) Langdon and another midget (Brayden) Maynard – they’re not midgets, but they’re certainly not gorillas and that’s what May is. They need someone like that back there,” JB said.
