Triple M Footy’s Jay Clark believes Essendon youngster Aaron Francis would be a perfect recruit for the struggling Gold Coast Suns.

Francis, a former No.6 draft pick, has made a rough start to his career at the Bombers with a combination of injury, mental health issues and form restricting him to just five senior games in three years.

The 20-year-old requested a trade back to his hometown Adelaide at the end of last season, but failed in his desire to leave Victoria.

Francis has been playing well in the VFL, but still cannot break into the Essendon line-up and Jay-Z reckons the Suns should swoop.

“His future’s very much up in the air because Johnny Worsfold the coach of Essendon hasn’t picked him again,” Jay-Z told Triple M’s Rush Hour on Friday.

“There is certainly people at Essendon that want this No.6 draft pick, who’s playing very good football in the VFL, to get some exposure.

“They’re probably not going to play finals, so he needs to get in the team and if he doesn’t play soon, I think we could see Aaron Francis at a new club next season.

“So why wouldn’t a club like Gold Coast, desperate for talent, look for a bloke like Aaron Francis who is probably ready to go. He just can’t get a game at Essendon.”
