Jay Clark has suggested on the Sunday Rub there is not much to the Aliir Aliir story - he just missed his alarm.

Aliir was a late withdrawal from Sydney's side to take on Brisbane after missing a training session.

"Aliir Aliir, the young key defender was a late withdrawal, and pretty disappointing because he missed training yesterday," Clarky said on Triple M.

"So the Swans had an early morning session, I think it was 9am, a swim, some goalkicking, some training et cetera, and he wasn't there.

Clarky said Aliir just missed his alarm, and not much more.

"We believe he just sort of slept through his alarm clock," he said.

"Was just one of those sleep in type issues...I don't know that it goes back any further than that."

Wayne Carey had a bit of a laugh.

"We've all slept in at some point!" he laughed.

"If he was the captain of the footy club and he rang up and said, look, I've slept in, he wouldn't be dropped."
