Jay Clark has said there is a lot of interest in Sydney forward Sam Reid among Victorian clubs.

Reid is a free agent coming out of a big five-year deal with the Swans at the end of the season, despite being in career-best form.

Clark suggested on the Monday Rub he could move elsewhere, with other suitors looming.

"Sam Reid is a free agent this year," he said on Triple M.

"There's a lot of talk about Dustin Martin and Nathan Fyfe, clearly a lot of interest in them...but Sam Reid, there is interest from Victorian clubs."

Clarky named a club he believed would be watching Reid very closely.

"Watch Richmond very closely around this one, because they need a key forward," he said.

"Sam Reid has had the best start to his career - career highs in goals, marks, score involvements (and) disposals. So he's been on fire."

Clark said Sydney doesn't have much room to move in their salary cap, which could squeeze Reid out if another suitor comes.

"I reckon if a Victorian club came with a deal, say, five years at $600,000, that probably gets Sam Reid," he said.

"Sydney are in a salary cap squeeze...(Richmond) could easily accommodate that.

"Keep an eye on and don't underestimate Sam Reid in the free agency pool this year."
