Triple M Footy’s Jay Clark believes Gold Coast champion Gary Ablett could end up at Geelong for just a “third or fourth round draft pick”.

Ablett tried to return to the Cats last off-season via the trade period but his wishes were denied.

However, Gold Coast’s inaugural captain could get his wish later this year after spending seven seasons with the Suns.

“The Cats don’t want to give up anything good for him,” Jay-Z told Triple M’s Rush Hour during the Midweek Rub.

“They’re thinking third or fourth round pick if he’s only going to play for potentially one or two more seasons.”

Jay-Z said Ablett would be on no more than $450,000 a season at Geelong and would play mainly forward.

Geelong legend Billy Brownless would like to see Ablett return to the club where he played in two premierships and where his father Gary senior became one of the game’s greatest ever players.

But Brownless didn’t want Geelong to give up too much for the two-time Brownlow Medallist.

“They don’t want to give up a young kid because they haven’t got a lot of young kids,” Billy said.

“You don’t want to upset the team balance because everything’s going alright.

“I’m a romantic and I’d like to see him play at Geelong but as long as he’s not on too much money, which I don’t think he will be, and we just fit him in there somewhere and he plays his last two years at the Cats.”
