Essendon star Michael Hurley has escaped serious injury, but the news isn't so good for teammate Laverde, who will miss two months with a hamstring injury.

Hurley was kicked in the wrist during Essendon's intra-club match on Saturday, the same wrist he had post-season surgery on last year.

Essendon high performance manager Justin Crow told Bomber TV the news from the scan was good.

"Michael Hurley got that kick in the wrist," he said on Tuesday.

"Thankfully there isn't (a fracture). We're expecting that wrist to settle over the next week or so."

Crow said the Bombers will be cautious after Hurley's previous surgery, but expect him to be right for the pre-season.

"We'll be optimistic about making him available for (the first JLT Series game)," he said.

It's not such good news for Laverde, who will most likely miss the start of the home and away season with a hamstring tendon strain.

"Jayden was in the game feeling tight in the hamstring," Crow said.

"We got that scanned, really to check it. Some really bad news there, in the medial side with his tendon, he's got a strain in that tendon, which is an eight to 10 week rehabilitation.

"It's bad news for Jayden but he'll be back doing his rehab and working towards the season as soon as he can."

Essendon also expects Kobe Mutch to miss six weeks after a knee arthroscope, and Travis Colyer to miss three months with a sesamoid injury.
