Geelong captain Joel Selwood is on track to enter the top five on the Cats’ all-time list of games played next season.

The triple premiership superstar is currently ranked 12th at Geelong with 272 career matches to his credit.

But Selwood needs 21 games to catapult himself up to fifth spot and overtake the current occupier of that position Darren Milburn (292).

Given Selwood has played at least 20 games every year since he was drafted, the odds of him reaching Geelong’s top five are very good.

If the six-time All-Australian does enter the Cats’ top five in 2019, he will overtake James Kelly (273), Garry Hocking (274), Joel Corey (276), Andrew Mackie (280), Matthew Scarlett (284), Peter Riccardi (288) and Milburn in the process.

The Cats’ top five currently consists of Corey Enright (332), Ian Nankervis (325), Jimmy Bartel (305), Sam Newman (300) and Milburn.

Selwood is only 30 years old so he looks to be well on track to eventually break Geelong’s all-time games record as well.
