Sydney coach John Longmire has given an update on the injury that kept ruckman Kurt Tippett out of yesterday’s loss to Carlton at the MCG.

Tippett was a late out in Sydney’s 15.7 (97) to 11.12 (78) loss due to a hip complaint.

“He went up in a ruck contest in the last drill in training on Thursday and strained a hip flexor muscle,” Longmire said.

“He was pretty sore. We gave him until Friday and he didn’t pull up any good at all, so no good for Saturday.”

The Swans have their fingers crossed for next week.

“We’re hopeful that he’ll be ok this week, it’s no certainty yet though,” Longmire said.

“The Sunday game gives him an extra day to prepare and be ok but we just don’t know, we’ll have to see how the week progresses.”

Sydney take on Brisbane at the SCG next Sunday at 1.10pm.
