At a press conference ahead of Essendon's Friday night game against Sydney, coach John Worsfold gave some clues about how his side will line up.

Replacing the injured Cale Hooker will be Shaun McKernan - who hasn't played since the Bombers' Round 2 win over Brisbane.

"We were hopeful Hooker would play. He was in the side this morning," Worsfold told reporters.

Hooker dislocated his finger at training, and is expected to miss just one week.

McKernan has been promoted off the rookie list to replace him.

Worsfold also confirmed the omission of midfielder David Myers.

Myers has played six games at AFL level this season, averaging 16 disposals.
