Controversial Collingwood midfielder Jordan de Goey won’t be available for selection for the Pies round one clash with Hawthorn after injuring his hamstring at training.

De Goey was training with the VFL side when he injured his hamstring whilst tackling.

The Pies released a statement today.

One player who won’t be available for round one of the season is midfielder Jordan De Goey, who suffered a hamstring injury at VFL training on Tuesday night,” the statement read in part.

“Subsequent scans revealed a minor strain that, according to [Collingwood Director of Football Geoff] Walsh, will require a routine hamstring recovery period.

“The 21-year-old has been training in the VFL program as part of his penalty for a recent drink-driving offence.

“It seems that the mechanics of a tackle Jordy laid late in Tuesday’s session locked his leg and he slightly over-stretched,” said Walsh.”
