Essendon goalsneak Josh Green has signed a new one-year deal that ties him to the Bombers until the end of 2018 at least.

After crossing to Tullamarine at the end of 2017 from the Brisbane Lions, Green played 17 games and booted 17 goals for the Dons before an injured foot against Gold Coast in round 22 ended his season prematurely.

“I’m really thankful to Essendon for the opportunity they have given me,” Green said.

“I believe we have an exciting group of youth and experience, and if we put our heads down and work hard, success will follow.

“I’m excited to get stuck into training and continue striving towards achieving our team’s goals in the 2018 season.”

Green enters season 2018 on 98 career games and 81 career goals.

He was originally selected by the Lions with pick 32 in the 2010 AFL draft.
