Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins has been unable to resist the chance to take a cheeky dip at Patrick Dangerfield, saying he’d love to knock off his former teammate in a preliminary final.

Adelaide won through to a home prelim with an easy victory over GWS on Thursday, and now Geelong are on the Crows’ side of the draw after a stunning loss to Richmond at the MCG last night.

Jenkins said he’d relish the chance to play against Danger’s Cats if they can get past Sydney or Essendon next week.

“Oh 100 per cent (I’d love to beat Dangerfield) — they do have to get there first so they’ve got to take care of their business,” Jenkins said on Fox Sports.

“But if he marches into town with his Geelong teammates, there’d be nothing better than beating him and reminding him that perhaps he should have stuck around with us and he could be a Brownlow Medallist and a premiership player.”

Dangerfield left the Crows at the end of 2015 after 154 games and won the Brownlow Medal in his first season at Geelong.

Jenkins is confident Adelaide will beat whoever they come up against.

“It doesn’t really matter who comes through Adelaide, we’ll be confident we can beat them,” he said.

“We’ve seen our best football has been near enough the best in the competition.”

“We took care of Geelong in the middle stages of the season and then we just dropped a game to Sydney as well by three points — if we would have kicked a bit straighter perhaps we would have won the game.”

Geelong play either Sydney or Essendon next Friday night at the MCG.
