West Coast spearhead Josh Kennedy looks set to become the Eagles’ all-time leading goalkicker early next season.

Kennedy has kicked 508 goals for West Coast since joining them in 2008 after 22 games and 11 goals with Carlton.

The two-time Coleman Medalist needs just seven goals to overtake the Eagles’ current greatest goalscorer Peter Sumich (514).

The optimistic West Coast fan would back Kennedy to kick all seven goals in their opening round clash against Sydney in the first AFL premiership game to be staged at Perth’s new Optus Stadium in what would be a fitting way to christen the venue.

But if he fails to do so, he would be a very good chance to break the record against the Western Bulldogs in round two.

Kennedy has an amazing record against the Dogs, having kicked more goals against them (48) than any other team, including bags of 10 in 2011, seven in 2012 and seven in 2015.
