A coach from WA has cracked it and pulled up stumps after being stripped of premiership points for leading his side to a margin deemed 'too big'.

Albany Eagles coach Russ Clark, who coaches an under-13s side in the Southern Districts Junior Football Association, has quit the role following the penalty when his side won by 95 points.

The WA Football Commission (WAFC) started capping margins in 2008 as to not discourage kids to give away the sport.

Clark said that his side is now a chance of missing the finals because of the stripping of points.

Penning a column in the Albany Advertiser, Clark explained some of the measures he took to avoid winning by an 'illegal' amount:

— One player who kicked three of the team’s five second quarter goals was moved to full-back for the second half

— Clark played his troops out of position, using four different ruckmen, four different full-backs, four different half-backs, four different half-forwards and four different midfield rotations

— Players who kicked goals were regularly moved into the backline

— The player voted by the umpires as best on ground spent the third quarter on the bench

— Clark’s second best player was moved to the wing to keep him out of the play after he kicked two goals from the forward pocket

Speaking to the ABC, the coach said there was no longer any fun in the role.

“They couldn’t get a coach at the start of the year for this side because people don’t want to do it," Clark said.
