GWS defender Nick Haynes will miss 10 weeks of football with a hamstring injury.

The Giants confirmed on Sunday the defender had hurt his hamstring tendon when he went for a mark and did the splits on Friday night.

At this stage he will not require surgery.

“We’re all really disappointed for Nick who’s been in terrific form early in the season," GWS head of athletic performance David Joyce said.

“We’ll now map out the right program for him to ensure he returns to the field in peak condition later in the year.”

Haynes had played all six games this season, averaging 19.3 disposals and ranking second at the Giants for intercept possessions (36) and marks (45).
