Tough Western Bulldogs midfielder Liam Picken has been stretchered off in their clash with Hawthorn in the JLT Series at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

Picken was contesting a ball in the Dogs’ forward line when he was inadvertently collected by the hip of team mate Josh Dunkley.

Play had to be stopped for several minutes as the stretcher came out for Picken, who appeared to be knocked out.

He was taken straight down the players race, and vision showed him up and about in the rooms shortly afterwards.

It’s not the first time Picken has had concussion issues; he was knocked out in a clash with Fremantle at Subiaco last year.

His wife shared a picture of Picken’s distraught son after the Subi incident.

Picken was back out on the boundary in his tracksuit at three quarter time.

The Dogs lead the Hawks 12.8 (80) to 10.8 (68) with a quarter to play.
