Western Bulldogs midfielder/forward Liam Picken will miss an indefinite period of the season.

Picken is recovering from a heavy head knock in the Dogs JLT Series match against Hawthorn earlier this month.

The Dogs have decided to be conservative with Picken’s recovery, according to the club website.

Picken has a history of concussion, having copped a fearsome concussion when he collided with Freo’s Tommy Sheridan at Subiaco last year.

Picken’s wife posted a photo of the pair’s son Malachy in tears after that head knock last year.

The Dogs’ first match of the season is against GWS in Canberra on Sunday.
