Things got a little heated in the Triple M commentary box in the new stand at Simonds Stadium tonight!

Wayne Schwass and Nathan Brown got animated in discussion about the AFL’s plan to ditch the centre bounce at half time during the Geelong v Port Adelaide match at Simonds Stadium.

Browny is a bounce enthusiast, while Schwatta is in favour of getting rid of the tradition.

Listen to the mini bust-up here (it was all in good fun!):

“It’s one different thing that we have in our game that nobody else has,” Browny said.

“We do have a few recalled bounces, but I see that the umpires aren’t putting as much time into the bounce because they don’t think it’s gonna be around in the future which I don’t agree with.”

Schwatta rsponded by saying that the bounce claims too many umps.

“To counter that argument, we lose too many umpires — good umpires — and we have over the journey because they look confidence in their ability to bounce the ball,” he said.

“We want the best umpires coming into our game… they have enough on their plate Browny without having to worry getting a good bounce.”

Browny said it was a simple question of practice.

“AFL players live and die by kicking goals and they miss them… Joe Daniher cops criticism,” he said.

“We’re losing good umpires because of the stress they have and the confidence they lose when it comes to bouncing,” Schwatta retorted.

“I think take the pressure off the umpires and let them throw it up.”

Browny reiterated that umpires should simply get better at bouncing the ball.

“Get better at it, train harder at it, and do it properly,” he said.
