Triple M's Wayne Carey says, compared to expectation, Essendon has been the disappointment of the year.
LISTEN TO CAREY EXPLAIN:
The Dons slumped to a 2-5 record after their loss to the Hawks on Saturday, setting a league-wide low for inside 50s this season with just 39.
Despite making finals last year and adding prized recruits Jake Stringer, Devon Smith and Adam Saad, the Bombers now find themselves behind the eight ball in the race for finals.
Duck says it's the expectation that led him to make that conclusion.
“Given where we thought Essendon would finish, they’ve probably been the disappointment of the year," he said on Triple M post match.
“Obviously Carlton’s 0-6 and Brisbane’s 0-6, but I think that’s where a lot of people thought they’d be, in the bottom part of the ladder.”
