Local Geelong footy team Newcomb has broken a 1464 day losing streak in the Bellarine Football League today.
The Power led Portarlington for most of the day at Newcomb Sand & Soil Oval, finally breaking through for a much-anticipated 12.16 (88) to 10.12 (72) win.
The win came nearly four years to the day since their last victory, also against Portarlington on June 15, 2013.
Zac Smith was the hero for Newcomb, slotting five majors.
The rendition of the club songs in the rooms was one for the ages:
The win lifted Newcomb off the bottom of the table, thanks to a draw with Queenscliff earlier in the year.
Hapless Portarlington are the new bottom side, with just the one win for the year.
